As a 3* Parelli
Professional I am able to assess your Level One or Level Two video or DVD submission.
Level Three submissions must be sent direct to Parelli USA.
To officially pass your Parelli Level one or two test, first
download the Task & Assessment sheets, then ask somebody to video you and your
horse completing some or all tasks as set out in the assessment
criteria. Then send your submission to me at the bottom of this page.
Downloads are in Adobe
PDF format which requires Adobe Reader to be installed on your PC. The

Tips on
videoing:
Before you
start, look through the assessment criteria carefully before carrying
out the tasks so that you know what is expected.
Plan ahead
so you have all equipment you require at hand, and have everything
organised and ready to go so that you are able to do the tasks in a flow
and unedited as far as possible, showing the friendly game before and
after each task.
Complete
each task once showing it to both the left and right sides of your horse
unless it states otherwise in the assessment criteria. Imagine that the
video camera is the live assessor and direct all your focus and tasks
with that in mind.
For the
person who is videoing, make sure both horse and human are in view at
all times, being as close as possible. Also, zoom in when appropriate,
for example tying the halter knot, paste worming etc.
Finally,
submit any new tasks or tasks for re-assessment on a new tape for
clarity.
Important Information
Film each task as a
whole – don’t cut and stick together parts of the task as the instructor
needs to see you do the whole task.
It is good however to
cut out the bits in between tasks (e.g. you reading what's next or going
to get your other rope, or bad takes in between your good ones etc..)
This makes your tape shorter so it will cost you less!!!
Start and end each
task with the friendly game so it’s clear. You will also find it easier
to edit this way.
Film with the sun
behind you and with a background that shows you and your horse well.
Make sure your hands
or the horses mouth etc... can be seen well if it is relevant to the
task. E.g. When backing up in level 1 make sure your hands can be seen
closing slowly one finger at a time.
Put tasks in order
when you put them on the tape you send.
Send in a list of all
the tasks you have submitted along with your tape and the order they are
in.
Make sure your tape
and task sheet is clearly marked.
Make sure you include
your address and phone number so that we can send you your task sheets
and string (when you pass) back to you.
Keep a copy of your
tape and also a copy of your task sheet if you have already had some
tasks marked. If you would like your tape back please enclose a stamped
addressed envelope.
The
turn around time varies depending upon how busy my teaching schedule is
but you should have your assessment back marked within 4 weeks.
Live
Assessments
As an alternative you
can have a live assessment in your lesson. Live assessments work best
in a lesson as we can work through things you need to practice as well.
It also helps to calm both you and your horse to have a lesson and help
to begin with and then be assessed on anything at the end.
If you are doing this
in a group lesson please make sure you have passed your liberty
(original and new assessments) and trailer loading (original assessment)
before hand.
